until"INCOMING" - NOVEMBER 1965, REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM 1st MARINE DIVISION - 1 MARDIV, 1st MEF Need a guide? ++MISSION BRIEFING++ "One Nation Under God and His Marines Standing Guard!” Mission Summary: A recently constructed Patrol Base has come under serious VC artillery fire over the last 36 hours. As of 3 hours ago, the fire has intensified. An errant round hit the base CP and has wrecked most of the radios - we're now only in contact with a Lance Corporal who's so deep in his foxhole we've got no clear idea where the shells are coming from. It's turned into a complete clusterfuck. Division G2 thinks that there may be Vietnamese spotters on an adjacent ridgeline guiding the shells in. Unfortunately, there's also some old temple ruins there. Current ROE from MACV states that we cannot willingly strike cultural sites without visual confirmation of enemy combatants using them as cover to engage American personnel. What makes matters worse, is that the famed morning fog for this region has come in thick. We can't get any choppers up in this soup. So we're down to one option. We need eyes on that ridgeline. We need it cleared out to stop any more accurate artillery fire. Lieutenant, saddle up your platoon. You're pushing towards through the valley to wipe out that position. Those Marines up there are counting on you. untilScramble! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ April 8th, Viet Nam, SE Asia, 1970 Apache Troop, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry "The Blues" This mission is a part of the Charity Drive to support those suffering from the Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine. Please support our drive here. 15 minutes ago Hotshot 1-7 was shot down while extracting a team from MACV SOG. The pilot managed to report heavy MG fire from their North before radio communications were cut off. The support bird had to wave off after it also took some hits, but reported seeing Hotshot 1-7 hit below the canopy. A Troop has been ordered to scramble, operating as the region's QRF. Deploy quickly, move swiftly & recover our stranded boys. Since Hotshot had just picked up the SOG team you can expect to find 10 US personnel needing immediate extraction. Once the friendlies have been extracted, attempt to locate and eliminate the enemy AA piece. If possible, locate their basecamp for further strikes. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken. The mission will be making use of the Arma 3 Prairie Fire DLC and a custom Modset which will be posted as well at the bottom of this event page in a compiled list. untilS.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC required! Operation Vengeance: Recon ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Time: 5:10 am HQ can only plan the main assault on the American targets to a certain extent with the limited information that they have to hand. Two three man teams have been sent into the region to gather as much information about the airfield and the unknown northern target, before compiling a report, and transmitting it back to HQ. The airstrip itself is believed to be relatively lightly protected. The adjacent military base however, is believed to be a much tougher nut to crack and holds armoured equipment and artillery pieces. Both the airstrip and the military base are surrounded by a minefield of unknown size. We poses no useful information on the northern target whatsoever, so anything you can gather would be greatly appreciated. It cannot be stressed enough just how important it is that you do not get caught during the operation, as this will only lead to reinforcements being brought into the area, and HQ will insist on the assault going ahead regardless. If you are spotted, you must avoid capture AT ALL COSTS, they enemy cannot know what is being planned. As the Recon element your tasking will be as follows. The main assault force will be entering the area through underground tunnels, these tunnels have almost been completed and all they need is the ideal place to breach the surface. We reckon we can construct 3 exits in the time before the assault and you are responsible for locating the optimum positions for them, remember that if the enemy find them, the assault teams will have a nasty surprise. The main assault has to go ahead no matter what is inside the target locations. Subsequently, establishing what's inside the bases is secondary (although it is still to be done if possible). Your main task is to establish the area covered by the minefield and to clear a path or paths through said minefield leading towards the target. These paths are to get as close to the target as you believe possible without being detected. External patrols are also to be noted down. As mentioned, any information on the unknown northern target could also be of great value and as ever. keep an eye out for enemy spec-ops units. Zeus' Note! The information gathered in this mission will be the ONLY detailed information that the PLT will get for a 1st Main event coming up in the near future. For this reason it is recommended that you note down the grid coordinates of any major positions of interest, taking photos is also an option. The Recon leads will be responsible for compiling this information at some point after the mission, and sending it to the Zeus as well as the PLT for the Main event once applicable. The other members of the group are welcome to participate in this process if the wish, but it is not mandatory. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the the Vietnam War during the 1960s and 1970s. The mission will be making use of the Arma 3 mods S&S, Unsung and the DLC SOG Prairie Fire which will be posted as well at the bottom of this event page in a compiled list. untilS.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC required! Operation Ivory Coast - Recon ++MISSION BRIEFING++ HQ can only plan the main assault on the Camp to a certain extent with the limited information that they have to hand. After the failure of our air recon, two three man teams have been covertly deployed to the region to gather as much information about Son Tay prison camp as they can, before compiling a report, and transmitting it back to HQ. The camp itself is not believed to be particularly noteworthy. However, there are multiple camps in the region that are home to other enemy units of unknown size and composition, These sights have the potential to be significant to the assault plan and are to be investigated. The locations in question are signaled by red names on the map above. It cannot be stressed enough just how important it is that you do not get caught during the operation, as this will inevitably lead to the prisoners either being moved to a different camp, or event worse, executed. In the event that you are spotted however, you are to avoid capture AT ALL COSTS, they enemy must not know what we are planning. As for what you should be looking out for, HQ has specifically requested information on the following: Known enemy positions, strong points and weak points. Enemy weaponry, vehicles and patrols, as well as likely avenues of enemy exfil if they attempt to move the prisoners. An optimal landing zone that provides suitable protection is also requested, and if possible the exact location of the prisoners. Zeus' Note! The information gathered in this mission will be the ONLY detailed information that the PLT will get for a 1st Main event coming up in the near future. For this reason it is recommended that you note down the grid coordinates of any major positions of interest, taking photos is also recommended. untilS.O.G. Prairie Fire DLC required! Operation Dixon ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Across the entirety of Vietnam, U.S forces are enduring the first stages of the Tet offensive. Multiple U.S positions are being overrun, including the town of Attapeu, which up until now had been home to a small logistics and communications unit. Their commanding officer is reporting that they are under heavy mortar and infantry contact, and have already lost the bridge to their west. Your two teams have been diverted from you original mission to assist in the rescue of the troops trapped inside the town, along with the few civilian medical personnel working alongside them. From your start point you will take your PBR's up the river and dismount at a place of your choosing. Be aware that by the time you reach the town, it may no longer be in friendly hands. Once you have arrived you are to rescue/recover whomever you can, and destroy whatever equipment cannot be salvaged. Additional PBR's are on standby to aid you if you need to exfil people before you yourselves are ready to leave. Unfortunately, due to the situation across the country, no further assistance is available, so you are unfortunately on your own. If the enemy has taken the town they will likely make use of it's defensive positions, these include fortified buildings, static weapons and a few bunker positions on the main entrances to the town. While rescuing/recovering our guys is your top priority, we cannot afford to loose more people than we already have. So if you deem your situation to be too dangerous, you are to leave immediately and return with the boats to your starting location. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the the Vietnam War during the 1960s and 1970s. untilOperation Track Due to recent growth in V.C activities our two regional bases are currently in the process of being combined into one base located at Camp Martin, the deconstruction of the second base was completed today and the final convoy of equipment was due to arrive at Camp Martin two hours ago. However, they have failed to arrive or report in to explain the delay. Initial aerial recon has turned up nothing so the decision has been taken to send in your squad to locate the missing convoy. You will be flown into the marked drop off point where transport will be delivered to you shortly after. The convoy's planned route is marked in blue and the heavy rain endured by the region in the last 48 hours should show any deviation taken by the convoy, you are to follow the tracks left by the convoy as they passed through, and if the tracks deviate from the planned route you are to follow them. You are equipped to deal with the recovery of dead or injured personnel and the repair of any damaged vehicles. As said vehicles were carrying important equipment they are to be recovered at all costs, however if this is not possible you are to destroy them, any bodies of U.S troops are also to be recovered. The aircraft that brought you into the A.O will remain on standby to recover anything you find. Although V.C activity has been on the rise we believe that they are yet to establish any form of "regional HQ", it is more likely that they are currently relying on local support from civilians. Assuming this is the case, any contact you do encounter during your search, should be limited in size and in heavy capability. Standard V.C tactics are still to be expected, so be mindful of your surroundings at all times. Finally, due to the time sensitive nature of the operation your squad level briefing will have to take place on your way to the LZ. ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War. untilOperation Valiant Da Krong District, Quang Tri, Vietnam Early this morning a H-21B Shawnee suffered engine failure close to Camp Sarge, while heading north west towards LZ Savage. Camp Sarge was abandoned several months ago, and since then V.C activity in the area has increased. Seeing as we have received no transmissions from the crew since they landed, we assume that they have been either captured or killed by hostile forces. Your troop has been selected to go and destroy the downed chopper, and recover the crew, in whatever state they may be in, note that body bags have been stored in the Huey in case they are needed. This choice was made largely due to the fact that you are the only people available, so if you get into trouble, there is no backup. We can give you limited air support in the form of a UH-1D Transport, and a OH-6A [M27] light attack helicopter. As mentioned enemy activity has increased recently, so you should expect some stiff resistance. However intel suggests that there will be no armor, and obviously no air. While there is believed to be light artillery in the area, it is expected to keep it's sights firmly on our military installations, and should be no concern to you. There are other larger scale operations taking place in the area that have fixed wing support. If you are in dire straights we may be able to call on them for aid, however due to the importance of recovering the crew, these strikes should be carefully considered. untilPrairie Fire! Prairie Fire! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Today marks the start of Operation Hellfire, a highly classified and dangerous mission that will test the skills and courage of each and every one of you. As MACV-SOG, we have been selected for this task due to our unique abilities and expertise in behind enemy lines operations. We have been assigned two objectives. The first objective is to destroy the VC supply depo where supply convoys usually move from, this should cause enough mayhem to give you a chance of coming back from the last objective. The final objective is to destroy the Anti-Aircraft assets and jets at a hidden VC airport defending the enemy's airspace. This objective will trigger the Viet Cong, who will respond like a hornet's nest. Once the final objective is accomplished, evacuate south at all cost! Call Prairie Fire and the US aviators will be rain Hellfire on the enemy. We must clear the area to avoid any friendly casualties. You will need to be prepared for any eventuality and execute each objective with precision and speed. This mission will not be easy, and we will face obstacles and challenges along the way. However, I have no doubt that we will complete each objective successfully. Remember to keep your wits about you and follow the plan we have set in place. Good luck to each and every one of you. The fate of our country rests on our shoulders, and we will not let it down. May God be with us. - Chief SOG ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken. untilGet ready to land boys! Watch out the LZ is HOT! ++MISSION BRIEFING++ Good morning, everyone. As you all know, we have a critical mission ahead of us. As of today morning, the main US Army will attack the city of Hanoi, and we have been tasked with taking over three critical PAVN and VC emplacements. The success of our mission is essential for the overall success of the American effort in Vietnam. Our first objective is a radio tower located northeast of Hanoi. This tower is critical to the enemy's communication network, and destroying it will significantly benefit the main push towards Hanoi. We must ensure that the tower is destroyed and cleared of any PAVN forces. Our second objective is a POW camp that reportedly contains informants and POWs that need to be rescued. The camp is heavily guarded, and we expect strong resistance from the enemy. We must move quickly and efficiently to rescue the prisoners and neutralize any PAVN forces in the area. Our last objective is located northwest of Gia Lan Airbase and is a highly strategic location occupied by anti-air and mortar emplacements. The more damage we do to it, the greater our chances of pushing through the west. This location is critical to the enemy's defense, and we must ensure that we neutralize it before the main push towards Hanoi. Let's go out there and make our country proud! -Airborne Commander ++BRIEFING COMPLETED++ MISSION SUMMARY: This will be a heavily themed mission with elements taken from the Vietnam War, with some artistic liberties taken.
