  1. During the process of reworking the crewchief eval system we (RW trainers and FAC trainers) took a look at the current systems and ways we are flying, attacking and communicating. We have come to the conclusion that we are dropping the 6 line system from the list of required things to get RW tags (pilot and crewchief). We are instead replacing it with a more relaxed, more fun and (for experienced people) more efficient way of dealing with such comms. The 6 line system was only ever used during evals and rarely during actual missions. First of all this will no longer be a must do type of rule set but rather a this is what works and most tag holders are currently using type of suggestion. Also keep in mind that we are not banning the usage of the 6 line system. We are just removing it's requirement. If you feel like you want to still use the 6 line system, simply tell the FAC and continue as normal. Instead of starting with a formal request by the FAC, you will be told everything you need to know for the strike after getting called by FAC. As an example: FAC: RPTR 1-1 this is FAC. RPTR: Send it. FAC: We got 1x BTR-80A at marker XB-4, 150m NE of Bravo actual. Deal with them how ever you like! This would normally be followed by one of three things: RPTR will copy his request. Read back if he isn't 100% sure (or the FAC requests a readback from him). Ask the FAC to repeat the order. As you might see it's now pretty much an informal 4 line system: What? 1x BTR 3x T72 ... Where? marker XZ-1 100m NE of Alpha actual marker somewhere in X area ... How? Guns only Hellfires only FFARs only At crews discretion ... Friendlies? Nowhere close far north 100m SW danger close directly on top of them ... Looking back at our example from earlier everything is present What: 1x BTR-80A Where: marker XB-4 How: how ever you like Friendlies: 150m NE of Bravo actual If you are dealing with something special (like hellfires) additional information is sometimes required: ACE Lasercodes If the FAC wants a specific battle-point In short: What, Where, How, Friendlies. The most important thing is, before you even take off you HAVE to talk to your FAC and make sure you both agree on using a specific system. If you are experienced and know who your FAC is, you can skip that part most of the time. For example take a look at @Tomo as my FAC and me in a helicopter doing CAS stuff. We never speak about how we are doing it and it still works great. This all comes from experience and working together. Hence this new system, which is just a formalized version of what we use. On updates on how the"new" crewchief eval works, keep an eye on the Rotary Wing Training thread. We will post updates in that thread.

There is no need to be able to fly (or know anything about RW at all) to take part in this training, but it will allow you to try out more things. This training will talk about the Combined Arms aspect of ArmA 3 from the view of Rotary Wing heavy gunships. Other elements Other heavy gunships Light / medium gunships Transport birds Fixed Wing (only basic) Drones (only basic) FAC / JTAC (irl usage vs usage in ArmA) Prophet (not in their JTAC role) Artillery / mortar Armor (only very basic, as I don't know anything about armor except how to destroy it) Infantry Communications Radio LR / SW channel usage Relaying messages Map markers Visible markers Smoke Flares / chemlights Lasers Landmarks ... System markers / Data Link Command structure Taking part in this training DOES NOT give you any priority during slotting. Regulars do not have any priorty. Anyone can RSVP. We are limiting the RSVP to 8 people but most of the time not everybody who RSVP'ed shows up. Feel free to just be there at the time and you probably will be able to get in. Be sensible, an amount of extreme fuckery (completely unnecessary or unrelated crashes, stupid delays due to not paying attention .etc.) will get you kicked out of the training, possibly even with a ban, and maybe even a ban from further trainings.

This training will talk about tactics and operation for light, medium and heavy gunships. From basic tactics through roles if operating with other birds to some live fire exercises. The main focus will be on the AH-6M Littlebird and AH-64D Apache Longbow. This training will not go into details on systems and weapons. Just why, when and how to use them. Requirements for taking part in the training: Know how to set keybinds. change your video settings. switch and fire weapons in a vehicle. use different locking methods. (Lock Target / Next Target) the panel system. Basic flight operations of helicopters! Taking part in this training DOES NOT give you any priority during slotting. We are limiting the RSVP to 8 people but most of the time not everybody who RSVP'ed shows up. Feel free to just be there at the time and you probably will be able to get in. I also have no issue with additional people joining and listening in. Be sensible, an amount of extreme fuckery (completely unnecessary or unrelated crashes, stupid delays due to not paying attention .etc.) will get you kicked out of the training, possibly even with a ban, and maybe even a ban from further trainings.

This training will talk about the operation and commonly used tactics in Heavy gunships. Different kinds of heavy gunships and how to use them Apache like gunships Hind like gunships Scout and support gunships What loadout should you take during a mission. How to be effective with your given loadout. (Self-chosen or restricted by the mission.) Cannon Gun Missiles Radar Laser SACLOS / wire / beam-riding Heat-seeking Rockets Bombs What to plan while still on the ground. How to adjust your plan when the situation changes or new intel arrives. Communications and command hierarchy Inside the bird Between birds Between air and ground We will not actively talking on how to employ certain weapon types... Just how to be effective with them. E.g. I will not explain how the different modes of the hellfire work in depth, but I will talk about how to use each mode effectively for a certain objective. Due to the nature of heavy gunships requiring two crew members the signup will happen in those pairs. Please write a comment with which slot you would like to take part in as. 1-1 Pilot: @SAUCEGODISHALL 1-1 Gunner: FREE 1-2 Pilot: @L00_Cyph3r 1-2 Gunner: @Beshman 1-3 Pilot: @Grester FNG: Slot is still FREE for regular+ 1-3 Gunner: @Snowmanhero FNG: Slot is still FREE for regular+ 1-4 Pilot: @sh4rdknight 1-4 Gunner: FREE 1-5 Pilot: @Marcu 1-5 Gunner: @Ventfarter Signing up for a specific role doesn't mean you will have to do that role throughout the entire training. This is just so we can get the training started quicker. You are obviously allowed to switch throughout the training. If all slots are filled and you are still interested please also leave a comment and I will most likely add more gunships! Taking part in this training DOES NOT give you any priority during slotting. RSVP Regulars have priority, FNG's may be able to join if there are not enough Regs+. If you are a FNG just write a comment that you would like to take part. We are limiting the RSVP to 8 people but most of the time not everybody who RSVP'ed shows up. Feel free to just be there at the time and you probably will be able to get in. (This includes FNGs ... just be there on time and more often than not we will include you into the training.) Be sensible, an amount of extreme fuckery (completely unnecessary or unrelated crashes, stupid delays due to not paying attention .etc.) will get you kicked out of the training, possibly even with a ban, and maybe even a ban from further trainings.
