++ Operation Libertad Absolute ++ A part of the Campaign - Ardestani-Maldenian War of 2001 Background: It’s a warm spring morning in the Ardestani Island Republic. The date is 25th of May, 2001. The year has started off peacefully, With only small conflicts rising up in the early spring/late winter due to fall of the Soviet Union and newly independent former-yugoslav republics. But there is trouble brewing on the horizon. In 1995, The Ardestani Island Republic officially announced its independence from Malden. The civil war sprung on by far-right extremists that lasted for 10 years before 1995 still shows its scars on both islands. Since the declaration of independence, the extremist party IADP (Independence of Ardistan Democratic Party) has risen to power, and its very polarizing leader Dr. Drabino has taken the post as president. With strong support from the military he has reformed the country into what he thinks fit. With that the newly formed country has become a fascist dictatorship where a legion of “aristocrats” are calling the shots. There is evidence of minorities on the island being oppressed and potentially rumors of ethnically Maldenians being rounded up and sent to camps all around the island. The time has come for Malden to take back the island and free the Maldenians from opression! In the early morning on the 25th of May, 2001, A large force of Malden military members are currently staging on a small island outside of Ardistan. It is time for the Maldenians to assault the shores of Ardistan and to liberate the island from the fascists. It is time to enact; Operation Libertad. ++ Mission Brief ++ We've recently established a stronghold close to the town of Eponia. From here we will spring our great offensive onto the Ardistani forces and the city of Bagango. We must break their lines and destroy their dug in positions. We must push their reinforcements back into the southern part of the island and establish a new front line. We must not push too far, to allow our logistics to follow we shall show restraint. Our main objective for Operation Libertad Absolute is to break their lines and in an assault, push their armored forces back. Our secondary objective is to siege the heavily defended city of Bagango. For this operation, we have been granted 8x M60A3s, 2x MTVR ZU23, 3x MTVR Resupply Trucks and a couple command M1151s. We shall break the Ardestani with this armored spearhead!
