Story

The UN has been deploying military personnel for service in peace operations since 1948 when the Security Council authorized the deployment of UN military observers to the Middle East to monitor the Armistice Agreement between Israel and its Arab neighbours.

UN military personnel can be called upon to:

  • Protect civilians and UN personnel;
  • Monitor a disputed border;
  • Monitor and observe peace processes in post-conflict areas
  • Provide security across a conflict zone;
  • Assist in-country military personnel with training and support
  • Assist ex-combatants in implementing the peace agreements; they may have signed.

One of the biggest changes UN Peacekeeping has seen over the 70 years of its existence has been the increasingly multi-dimensional nature of UN peacekeeping operations. UN military peacekeepers are often deployed in inhospitable, remote and dangerous environments where they face an unprecedented scale of challenges especially when protecting civilians, under asymmetric threats.

You will also be tasked to end slave trades, illegal arms trades, and any and all WMD's.

Good Hunting

Chuck Yeager

Crazy and long list of things, I would maybe recommend to combine weapons and outfit per country, to keep it easy to read when slotting up. Looking forward to joining one of these missions though

So after the list of countries, give us an overview like this:

Germany
MNP: Flecktarn Combat Fatigues
SMG: MP7, MP5 Rifles: HK416, H&K G36 LMG: H&K MG4, Rheinmetall MG3 Pistol: FNX-45 Tactial Sniper Rifle: AWM, M107 AT: M136, SMAW, Javelin

Just jumping in to say that the Norwegian weapons are off, and that we have most of the weapons we actually use. Here they are:

  • NOR SMG: MP5/MP7 Rifles: HK416/G3 LMG: MG3/FN Minimi Pistol: Glock 17 Sniper Rifle: HK417 AT: M72

Havent included weapons we don't have and used the closest variants of the weapons we do have.

Alot of work is evidently put into this, reminds me of @Judgeman PMC missions which I enjoyed. Excited to see what kind of missions will develop from this.  Really hope I'm around for when this kicks off!

IRE SMG: Steyr AUG (9mm) Rifles: FN FAL, Steyr AUG LMG: FN Minimi Pistol: FNX-45 Tactial Sniper Rifle: AWM AT: M136, SMAW, Javelin

we don't have smg's, if we do it would be the mp5,
Our rifle is the aug a1...there are some a2/a3 models , FN Fal was made redundent in the 80s/90s
GMPMg is our LMG, we use real guns and not 556 mg's

Hey Nova just wanted to advise the Aussie use the amcu not auscam now. Also hk417 instead of mk11. And the M3 instead of smaw. Other than that looks good.

If we do this properly, this should be a very boring set of missions :D

This is 100% fact, the UN almost 99% of the time are either doing, Humanitarian aid, being the "cops" in 3rd world countries or send strongly worded letters to countries like Russia or Syria for gassing their own people. The UN are not some sort of special force you send in, you call up the UN when you want to give food to African people, or set up Hospitals in Egypt or Syria.  Stating that as long you grasp the concept that the UN will be a combat force 1% of the time and plan around that, I have no other comments.

Also Woody isn't shit posting, just because you disagree with him doesn't mean he is wrong, or needs the extra noise of calling "shit post". @Woody @Guest

Edit: I also must add that there is some innovation here, the Money concept is a genuinely interesting idea if done right, I do wish you luck on this one.

*Puts on Nerd Glasses*

Actually Nova, I think you'll find multinational forces deployed by the UN tend to be taken per Battalion from their host countries, so for example the British have given over a Battalion to Peacekeeping in Cyprus between the Greek Cypriots and the occupying Turks. You'd very rarely find a UN mission where forces co-operated to the extent you're suggesting as they tend to rotate units rather than use specific units for specific jobs or have every country operating at the same time. The closest you'll get to that is missions like Timor Lest where the UN took police units from a number of countries and amalgamated them into a UN Stabilization Force to restore law and order there.

*Takes off Nerd Glasses*

Having said this, I do like the idea of a random choice of units so people won't know who they are until the mission starts. It's a concession of realism I like! Are you planning to do this properly and have a Return Fire Only ROE? Because if you do, I'm fucking down to Platoon Lead this, especially if we're doing more RP style missions. Any mission that breaks from the norms of 'go here kill this shooty bang bang' is awesome, if probably slightly against the ethos of the community. As Woody quite correctly pointed out, the missions will be a lot less shooty if done correctly, but probably a lot more interesting/suspenseful.

At any rate, the UN tends to avoid actually engaging unless directly threatened where possible, for the simple reason that if you kill troops lent to you by the international community, the international community will stop lending you troops.

Yeah, as you said it will be Return fire only ROE because that's what the UN does
