Also only Squadleaders should take laser designators, as it makes it harder for FAC to get air on the right target if there are 20 laser marks in the AO.

Less is better in terms of laser designation. Not saying i couldn't bomb two designated targets at once.... but who knows if there right or whats near them

Dear god, put your bloody Safety on CTRL + ^ is your friend!

  • For British / UK layout keyboards it's CTRL + ` (the key to the left of 1 and below escape) (Thanks lizzy)

For people that use a Azerty-keyboard layout (popular in Belgium) it is CTRL + ² (also to the left of 1 and below escape)

This is super useful thankyou

Yeah, I hope to help with it. But again, it's not the word of god, it's just what I learned, some of it might be wrong. So don't think this is the 'definitive' thing. I try to make it as accurate as I can but I'll fail at some point to get something right.

Doing the Air-Update today. Pilots, please feel free to add or disprove what I say. Please also keep in mind that I am only working on the BluFor(/NATO) Vehicles. Also, I am aware I forgot the Apache, I'll add it with the Drones.

Update to this: Spoke to Anden at some point within the past week, he said that he/CM's have decided not to 'fix' it as the commander should be telling the driver where to go and give proper bearings for him/her to follow

If you ask me, this could be linked to the joining Arma session. It has helped me as a new player on at least 3 occasions now.

Well, thing to me is, I won't advertise it. It has mistakes (I'm certain they are somewhere) and I am not a CM - this is not official documentation. ^^

So, what you are telling me is that this post is now official reference material, cause apparently I need to update it to the Rules as they come out?

Alright, Don't have to update it with the rules though after this if you don't want to

It's less that I dont want to. I have no problem with keeping it up to date. I am actually considering reworking the Entire thing, structurizing it and giving it a proper overhaul. It grew beyond what it was meant to be ages ago. Just, if CM's tell me to update it, I'd like it to get the Credit it deserves .. idgaf about me getting Credit, I am just writing it down. Just if you want me to update it, I want it to be used by the CM's to give references and 'Read this, it will help you, little gay FNG'

Essentially: I just want my time to be worth it. I gladly spent 4 hours updateing that thing, just if I make myself that work and it's essentially buried in the forums, unread, that kind off beats it's purpose.

Probably going to start an overhaul tomorrow (unless I sleep till 6pm again) I'll Index the entire thing Numerically, change the Order around somewhat and prepare it to be upgraded. So essentially: Version 2.0 tomorrow? If I get out of bed?

If you call an enemy, try to give a direction. That means: Degree's, not only "North by North East" or "Left". Sure, general directions help, but try and deliver the accurate one soon!

My favorite way to call out targets are the three D's. Direction, Distance, Description. So Direction can be a compass direction like "North", bearing like "Zero Zero Three", or both like "South South West 210" (best bc it is the most descriptive) but be short and sweet, you only have so much time. Distance can be a call out like "Under the big ass tree" or an actually distance like "200 meters", or if you are bad at distance, "Close" and "Far" work as well. Lastly description, basically what the hell it is, "A tank", "A squad", "6 million hinds", etc. So if you put it all together, your call out on targets should be, "East, Bearing 90 ish, About 300 meters, looks like a squad of 5." Another example is, "SQUAD LEAD, BEARING 255, CLOSE, LAV!" One last example, "SOUTH, NEXT TO THE SHIT SHACK, ABOUT UHHH FUCK 500 METERS, 40 GUYS" Just make it quick and precise and no one will die because they were looking the wrong way.

I actually try to avoid using exact bearings most of the time because it takes a while for people to find it. If you want your squad to engage something as fast as possible it is usually better to call out the position relative to something else in combination with a rough estimate of the range, so something like "SouthEast 200 meters left of the ATC".

That's a good point, I was thinking in terms that you had your GPS out which tells you your bearing instantly.
