Nuggets Mission Ideas

I have another idea for a mission, and I'm writing this while I'm supposed to be doing class work.

----Situation----

---1431 Hours---

---07.03.2007---

---Undisclosed Location, Iraq---

On July 3, U.S. Major General Philip A. Markowitz, Commanding officer of the 3rd Infantry Division, was visiting the front on an inspection tour. He was accompanied by members of Alpha Company/2nd Battalion/3ID, who were to escort him to various combat units and keep him safe. At 1400 hours, the General and his escort were flying in 3 UH-60 Blackhawks to FOB Gettysburg as the final stop on their inspection tour. They were presumed to be flying in friendly airspace. The General and his escort were to arrive at the FOB at 1445 hours, but they never arrived. Last radio contact with the group came through at 1420, since then silence. The group is presumed to have been shot down by insurgents in the area. FOB Gettysburg has not been able to send out a search party as they have been under siege by Taliban forces. Bravo Company/3rd NATO Group has been tasked to locate the General's group and then move to assist FOB Gettysburg.

----Objective----

Locate the Generals Party. Should every member of the Party be K.I.A, Bravo Company is to recover the body of each member and return them to base. Should members of the party be found to be alive, Bravo will radio in and Helo's will arrive to take them back to NATO Base Geeko. After either situation has been completed, Bravo will continue on to FOB Gettysburg and assist in the defense of the base.

Bravo Company is known as The Fuck Knows Company within the 3rd NATO Group.

Assets: 2x UH-60 Blackhawks tasked with returning the bodies of the group to NATO Base Geeko. The units will also be tasked with CAS of the unit.

The company will be starting from NATO Base Geeko and moving towards the last known location of the General's party, then onto FOB Gettysburg.

 

I'd like to run this as one of the late night missions and I could use an Experienced Zeus to help me run it.

So we ran the mission tonight and the following is some feedback I heard during the after mission debrief.

  • Mission was boring at times.
  • It took too long.
  • Was Realistic
  • Need to turn the intensity up a notch

So I will take this feedback and work it so the next time this mission is run, it will be better.

One thing that made it take so long, was the holdup, while waiting for reinforcements for some reason (before the mission had even started). 
The other thing that made it take so long, was the fact that we stuck to the roads. As soon as Raptor saw the Crash site, we should have bum rushed it down there IMO. Get in there, Secure an LZ get the General out and continue on to the FOB. (Maybe you could make it an objective to only get the General out and everyone else is optional. Then you could have the other ones in a heavily fortified part of town (which the Platoon can choose to go around or try to take.))

If you have more people for this mission you can easily put in a Knight element.

 

Would have loved to play that misison to the end, but sadly my connection shat itself at one point.

I may or may not have forgotten to tell everyone what happened to you during the debrief afterwards....

But yeah, a Knight element would make it a little bit more interesting. It would end up having to be Bradley's because Abrams would be overkill. Again, I take full blame for holding up the convoy for so long to let Wattsits fly the reinforcements to you guys. I should've just tp'd them. The other thing is to, that if we had more people it still would've taken long. Our fault for not getting the briefing underway quicker.

So instead of posting a new thread every time I have a mission idea, I will just post it here to keep it concise. Now onto my new ideas.

@Digby Tatham-Warter you are gonna love some of these ideas, but since your computer has taken a shit I won't do it without you :D

So throughout history there have been some epic battles, and I thought how would the result change with FK fighting it and with modern weaponry being used. Behold my ideas.

The Commonwealth invasion of Gallipoli: You had one fucking job Churchill, and you fucked it up. Actually it was a good idea, but the problem was that the Turks were ready for it and the land wasn't in the Commonwealth's favor. Since we got the BAF mod, we could do this as British soldiers or other soldiers of the Commonwealth. Aussies, Canadians (Were they there???), Indian, and Brits. We can pick specific Battles out of the campaign to do, or let me and Digby do it. It's an assualt, so it would work in Fk's wheel house of missions.

The Battle of Monte Cassino (I don't care which one): There were several battles for Monte Cassino until the Polish final took it in I can't remember which battle. We can see if FK, using Modern weapons, can role up the German (Russian) lines much faster then our counterparts did in history.

Dunkirk????: Could this actually be done, I'm a bit curious.

Operation Sea Lion, oder Unternehmen Seelöwe: This would actually work if we had a Bündeswehr mod. This Operation never actual happened because the Lüftwaffe couldn't get their shit together to beat the Brits in the skies. But what if it did, and how would it turn out using Modern Weaponry?

Gettysburg: Because fuck it. Me being an American Civil War History nerd, I will put this here. Think about how quickly George Meade could've crushed Lee. Hypothetically, the North would have the most armor seeing as it has more industry than the south, but the South has more oil because Texas. 53,000 casualties were taken by both sides during the 3 day battle. From the first action of the Union Cav un General Buford stiffing the Confederate Divisions of Archer and Davis, to Picketts Charge. Shit, now I wanna do this.

Ia Drang Valley: Cause 'Nam thats why. What do you think @Sarissa? Could we do this without using the Unsung mod??? Or since it was a defensive stand, will we not be able to do it because scripts?

This is only a short list of many that I will soon post. If a mission is based off of a real battle or campaign, it will go on this post. If not, then it gets it's own special post on this thread.

The problem with doing that operations would be that everyone would focus on the blackhawk down portion of it. Granted the main objective was to kill the militia leader, but only thing anyone knows is the blackhawk down. It's a good idea, though one I think we have done before.

No worries, i figured most people would only know about Black Hawk Down anyways, for a main mission i think this part would be the most suitable. If it hasnt been tried yet i think it would be a good one to do so.

I would've run it yesterday but i was really busy, so I will try to run it today as part of the official missions or the late night ones

Time for Nuggets not so realistic mission list

Operation Monty Python: A small Special Forces Unit is dropped into Russia after Pladimir Vutin is overthrown by a Extremist Right Wing group and a Facist dictator takes his place. The US and Britain send in Delta Force and SAS units to eliminate the Dictator while he is overseeing the building of his personal fortress, then get out. They are dropped in VIA paradrop and extracted by the same plane after they clear an airfield.

Operation Falling Stars: See Original thread post. MUST WEAR UCP AS IT WAS THE AMERICAN CAMO DURING 2007

Nugget's Defense Mission Bonanza: Basically what it says. Defending Devil's Castle from an onslaught of Russians who have surrounded the FK unit. Available CAS runs for Broken Arrow situations. Tried on Napf, massive shitshow. ONLY CHENARUS!!!

The mission was pretty fun we had an OW In hurricane 1-2 and we pushed with the main force. I haven't any complaints up until the last 30 or so minutes where the mission became dragged out boring and just not needed.

This could be because of the positioning of @seishimaybeC Overwatch which destroyed most of the forces approaching. A tip for this would be to possibly pop mortars around them to move them and force the over troops to become involved which most were not.

I was the driver of the Huricane 1-1 Tank which was originally named Apples but changed for some reason i really enjoyed my crew being @atomicbucko122who was a good first time commander  and... Fuck i forgot. Sorry whoever it was but they were really fucking good.

Alright gents and ladies, here is the dealio. I'm planning to run the Monte Cassino mission as I have it mostly heshed out. I will run it in 3 days, hopefully run it as a main mission if @Sarissa and @Katla_Haddock let me. By then, it should be fully heshed out. Who's up to attack Cassino and the Gustav Line??? The map I will be using will be Summer Chenarus, and you guys will be storming Devil's Castle just because its on a hill and I don't think there are any monasteries for you guys to storm. I'm planning on giving you guys mortars and maybe one CAS Littlebird. This is gonna be fun, and you guys are gonna get fucked.

Alright, here is the basic lay out of the mission plan.

  • You will be storming a heavily fortified hill with the objective of capturing it.
  • You will not be able to encircle the hill as it is apart of a major defensive line.
  • 3 or 4 respawn waves.
  • Instead of Germans and Fascist Italians, you will be fighting Russians.
  • Possibility of AA and mortars. Will be enemy armor and air.
  • Static MG emplacements.

This is all I'm gonna give you guys.

If it's a scripted mission you'll have to uploaded it to the Gitlab and have it run through the testing process first.

Not a scripted mission because I have no clue how to script. This is just basic Zeusing. I'm putting it up now because if I have a planned mission for the main mission I have to give 3 days notice, or is that just for scripted missions? Just looking for approval to run it for a main mission.

Alright, so I have finished fleshing out the mission. Since I have done this, I'd like permission from the CM's, @Sarissa, @NeilZar, or whoever else, to schedule this on the calendar for Thursday or Friday main missions.

  • UN Forces, split between British/Commonwealth, and American troops. 3 Squads Brits/Commonwealth, 3 Squads American.
  • 1x Bradley. 1x Mortar Team. 2x CAS Little Bird.
  • Chenarus. Assaulting Devil's Castle. Russians in place of Germans and Italians. Heavily entrenched before the Castle. Armored units ranging from BTR's to several T-72's. Possible Mi-8's or Mi-24's, whatever the Hind is.
  • 4 Respawn waves with 2 asset respawns

I will need 2 experienced Zeus's to help me with this.

You can make a calendar post yourself. Put it on the mission calendar and we'll approve it once we are happy with it.

Update: Mission is being pushed back to possibly Monday due to the CM's not being satisfied with what I have given them in terms of information. It's gonna be awhile till I can run this.

Update on my next potential Mission for those following. I'm starting to plan out a Gallipoli Campaign, and will work on it as soon as finals are over, and I get back from a Select Camp for Ice Hockey Officials. Also as soon as someone teaches me how to script so we have the missions look nicer and run smoother.

Been a while since I updated my Missions thread so I thought I'd give you all an update on the possibility of my Gallipoli Campaign.

Well, I am still deciding whether it would be better for it to be a Zeused mission or a Scripted mission. @Digby Tatham-Warter I would appreciate your help in doing the research on the campaign to try and get stuff historically accurate apart from it being in a modern setting. Or you know, if I make it a Zeus mission, you can help me fuck everyone up.

Map will more than likely be Lingor or Duala, depending on which looks more like the Turkish coast. Just gotta do research and actually start working on it. I'm hoping people enjoyed fighting the Battle of Monte Cassino and is looking forward to this Campaign.
