The small Island Nation of Tanoa was founded with the dissolution of the Dutch East Indies in 1945. After an uneasy 9 years of self-rule, the United Nations decided to place the care and economic protection of Tanoa under the State of Japan.
Since then, decades of economic collapse, uneasy governmental rule and limited resources have stymied the development of the Nation.
13 times in its history, the Government du Nationale Tanoa has requested military intervention from the Japanese, to quell civil unrest and to assist the local police forces in keeping law and order under control. However, Article 19 prevented the Japanese Self Defence Forces from operating in offensive action outside of Japanese territorial waters.
Now, the government of Tanoa has been overthrown in a violent coup, and members of a British Aid Mission have been attacked and killed. The U.N. have passed resolution 242, wavering the limitations of Article 19 so that the JSDF can deploy to Tanoa and help restore peace and order for their protectorate.
The First Japanese Expeditionary Force (JGSDF-1EF) has been deployed to Tanoan Waters under the supervision of Task Group Acorn; a detachment of the Royal Navy Pan-Pacific Fleet. British presence in Operation TAKEDA is limited to logistical & medical support only however.
The Western Infantry Brigade is preparing to begin military operations on the Tanoan Shoreline be launching a naval landing and securing the first Liberated foothold of Tanoa.
