Operation: Watchtower

For the past few months, Russian forces have pushed further and deeper into the region of Takistan. Local intelligence sources, coupled with intercepts have noted that the Russians have begun a series of war crimes. Civilans are being round up and shipped off or executed. As a result President John Haddock has ordered a direct intervention with no delay.

Elements of the 160th SOAR, 3rd Ranger Battalion and 1st SFOD-D have been deployed to the region to effect a push against the Russian forces, with a long term goal of forcing them out of the region. For now the operational objectives are to do a show of force for the locals as a "Hearts and minds" operation for the long term, while gathering local intelligence for anything that may have changed from last contacts. Then to push on and clear Feruz Abad and if possible, cripple their Regional Relay/FOB at Garmsar if possible.

Once the Platoon leaves the Loy Manara Airbase, it should be considered hostile territory at all times. Russian affilated locals and observers/spotters have been spotted during regular patrols. It is expected that once Feruz Abad is assaulted, QRF will be requested from Rasman. The QRF is expected to consist of both Air and Ground assets.

Objective:
OBJ ALPHA: Hearts and Minds show of force to the locals, gather any additional intel since last contacts. (GRID REF 0400)
OBJ BRAVO: Assault and secure the city of Feruz Abad from Russian forces. (GRID REF 0506)
OBJ CHARLIE: Destroy and clear the town of Garmsar which is being used as a Relay point and FOB for in field forces. Destroying this should delay QRF response from Rasman if done quickly enough. (GRID REF 1006)

Objectives BRAVO and CHARLIE can be done in any order once ALPHA has been completed

Local Intelligence:
Sources on the ground have spotted at least 3 - 4 Man mortar teams + security roaming the hills. Last sightings have been marked (GRID REF 0405, 0404, 0703). Additionally, Static Anti air emplacements have been seen in and around the city of Feruz Abad. Notably at the Mine (Highpoint 2335), Highpoint 2252 and Highpoint 2317.
Local reports have also stated many townsfolk keeping to themselves and not interacting with the populace in the normal way. CROSSROADS believes that this indicates for certain the presence Russian affiliated locals and forward observers/spotters for their artillery. As a result Civilians should be treated with suspicion and detained where possible.

Intelligence from Intercepts and Surveillance:
Surveillance and comm intercepts places the Russian forces at roughly Regiment level. While Crossroads does not expect them to levy the full regiment force against this deployment, extended response should be expected. The assets we have located and identified in the immediate region are as follows:

BTR-60PB and BTR-70 APCs (Unknown total number)
T-72B and T-80B Tanks (Unknown total number)
1 Squadron of MI-24 Gunships
2 Squadrons of MI-8 Transports

These are along side the standard infantry compliments and their AA and AT capabilities. There is a possibility that if the Kremlin decides to, more forces from the surrounding region will be pulled into the AO if they deem the region worth while, however this along with committing the full Regiment strength is not expected. 

During this operation we will have several high level surveillance drones and will be trying to intercept enemy communications. As a result CROSSROADS will act as your intelligence relay.
