MULTIPLE LANGUAGES WILL BE ATTEMPTED TO BE USED, MEANING TRANSLATORS WILL BE NEEDED

IF A SLOT ISN'T LISTED, IT CAN'T BE RSVP'D

To accommodate this idea platoon will be modified to work with this idea, as well as use of assets IF AT ALL.

Will need 2 experienced co-zeuses as well, please apply

If we are unable to fill a squad with a specific language we will change to another one, please post here for languages you speak FLUENTLY in case this happens

OBJECTIVES

Background:

Russian forces have recently captured and secured the Canadian island of Ellesmere. We have successfully evacuated the 191 citizens of the island to Baffin island whilst we take back the island.

We have the Finns, Dutch, Germans, Americans and British to help our forces against the Russian military. Unfortunately they only have 1 bilingual soldier per squad, so we'll have to communicate through them as liaisons.

Objectives:

  • We suspect that they have set up a Tactical Operations Center on the abandoned mental asylum, destroy the radio equipment.
  • They have utilized the FOB at Sakovo as a armoury and repair depot, recapture it.
  • At the port of Rybak or Belucco, there has been possible submarine activity, investigate.
  • There is a regular convoy that goes from the main city of Yolandi to the FOB at the sea town of Sokovo, destroy or capture the convoy.
  • There's a weapon lab that they have captured, we have highly classified information there that they may have stolen or used, capture the intel from the Russians.
  • They have set up a heavy military encampment at the town of Focha, we recommend destroy the bridges that connect the island to stop a possible armoured QRF coming from there.

Special things

1. Platoon will be lead by an English speaking country (ie. must take uniform of the nation. USA,UK,AUS,NZ etc. including being appropriate to the terrain)

2. 3 squads will be the English speaking country, the other 3 will be of the other countries (Note - These countries must use appropriate camo for their nation they represent, chosen by the Liaison, this may be subject to change. Camo also need to be appropriate to the terrain as well)

3. 69 for Zeus and English language, 68 for Armour/Mortar, 67 for Helis, 66 for German, 65 for Dutch, 64 for Swedish

4. While short and local range communication can all be in English, it is recommended and preferred if the countries spoke their language for the sake of the struggle of multiple languages being used

5. Long range comms will be required to use the appropriate languages. (excluding technical issues)

6. Platoon squad will consist of Plt lead, RTO, FAC, German liaison (Translator), Dutch liaison, Swedish liaison, and medic.

Okay, seems like Finnish squad won't get filled AGAIN, but instead of just completely converting it to Swedish and basically deleting my role, could it not be some weird hybrid of Swedish/Finnish, where one fireteam/part is finnish, other is swedish?

Probably a completely batshit crazy idea, but I crave for the day once more where I can play arma 3 and speak Finnish.

@Neroxen Counter offer, make the Finnish squad a spec ops squad possibly? You'll have to find someone to SL though

my experiences as a swede that has visited Finland a couple of times is that alot of finnish people speak almost swedish fluently (atleast southern finland/Helsinki), if the squadlead would be one of these talented individuals, it would actually be possible! :D

It is true that we have to learn Swedish as a second language but none of as actually know how to speak it (because we don't want to), especially in Helsinki or anywhere in Southern Finland, the most of the Swedish people either live in Åland or Vaasa.

I wasn't really trying to push you. But ok.

Oh sorry, I didn't actually realize that my reply sounded this serious, I didn't have that in mind.

I have no problem with giving you the slot.

This would be very cool but you'd need someone who is not only fluent in Finnish and Swedish but also someone that can take the SL role. You could also have the SL be Swedish, the fire team leader being the Finnish person with the most practice with Swedish and go from there. Last time when I ran the Swedish squad I made a little dictionary for the different military terms and orders in English and Swedish so you would have a bit of backing from that but I realize a second language is not nearly as easy as the first language you learn. Just go recruit some more Finns ;)

If you guys can't find a SL before the 19th, then I'm turning the squad into a Swedish squad, be forewarned.

I would have loved to take the SL role again if there is a Swedish squad but this event falls on the 23rd of December which makes it impossible for me to attend and I would assume many others would have the same issue. In Sweden, Christmas is celebrated on the 24th of December meaning the 23rd is the informal Travel day for people to get to relatives and gatherings.

For future missions, the benefit of having a Swedish squad is that Norwegian and Danish people can join with little issue of the language barrier and Finnish people with a slightly bigger barrier as has already been noted by some Finns.
