Mission Summary:
The WINTER CONTIGENCY has been activated by HIGHCOM. Covenant forces are dirtside on Reach. There was a Covenant Supercarrier which had somehow slipped past our defences that was taken out as part of OPERATION UPPER CUT; but now a massive Covenant fleet has arrived in system and is attempting to close on the planet. We have to do everything we can to delay the breakthrough as much as possible. The Epsilon Eridani fleet is engaging en-masse in Orbit, and they're relying on the MAC platforms and planet side MAC batteries to assist in the fight as much as possible. 1st Battalion are being deployed to help hold the Thoronos Relay and keep it operational. This relay is vital to maintaining accurate target locks for 6 MAC batteries on the surface. While they'll keep firing if it goes down, they will be much less accurate. Army forces are stretched thin across the planet; and our company was slated to be transported off of Reach earlier than the rest of the Battalion which is why we're the closest now.
Orders have been scrubbed in the face of WINTER CONTINGENCY. Deploy from the Corvette UNSC Parisian and double time it to the Relay. Keep that station secure for as long as possible. The defenders there are already under fire.
If the relay should be lost, or the generators go offline; secondary defence site is the regional airbase. HIGHCOM will issue orders for redeployment if necessary. Good luck. Keep those guns firing. Time is all we have left.

++RESTRICTIONS++
- Only Weapons and equipment from the Operation Trebuchet and OpTre First Contact mods are permitted.
- Weapon list is in effect; see below.
- 1 MG Gunner can swap their Machine Gun for a handheld Grenade Launcher at the Squad Lead's discretion.
- PLTN can chose one of two types of uniform/equipment. This will either be the Hao Reach version of Marines or the Halo 3 version. See below for details & examples.
- Each squad may use the M41SSR Rocket Launcher. This is HAT but is permitted to be used like MAT.
- Magazine size limit is raised to 60 rounds (to accommodate the larger rifle/SMG magazines e.g. MA5B)
- EMP grenades can be taken for Underslung grenade launchers - limited to 3 per GL.
- Thermal scopes are permitted if operating as a DMR or Prophet element - usual magnification rules apply.
- 122mm throwable explosives are not permitted.
- Throwable explosives/incendiaries/Molotov's are limited to 1 per person.
- HUDs (from OPTRE) are permitted and encouraged.
- Explosive ammunitions is prohibited unless playing as a PROHPET element (separate or imbedded)

UNSC Special Forces (ODSTs and Spartans) have the following rules:
- One MG per squad may be exchanged for the M247H Heavy MG
- Two primary weapons may be taken using Webknights 2 primaries mod.
- AT Operator may choose to use the Spartan Laser.
- If playing as Colonial Police, riot shield primaries may be taken.

- The improved Melee system can be configured by esc > options > controls > configure addons > WebKnight's Melee.
- Primary Weapons with an attached bayonet can be used to bayonet enemies by use of the improved Melee system Buttstock Hit/Bayonet Charge ability.
- OPTRE medical items (Biogel, Biofoam & Medigel) can be utilised and are encouraged to be used.
- 3rd person will be enabled to allow easier use of some vehicles with tricky FOV. There is no restriction around the use of 3rd person; but I'd encourage you to try not to "game" the mission by using it to exclusively peek corners etc
